Silhouette Mustaches

Do you remember last May when I got a Silhouette Cameo for my birthday?

I am ashamed to admit I haven't really used it much since I got it. Most of that is due to the fact that my laptop crashed last summer and my desktop can't handle the program. But now that I have my new fancy laptop, I've started to figure out how this bad boy works!

First project I worked on is cutting a vinyl phrase to put on the wall at work. It look me a super long time to figure out how to do this and I definitely made some mistakes, but my photo manager got the saying she wanted and she's happy with it.

Super awesome cell phone picture too! The hardest part was cutting out the little Mary Poppins!

Even though that saying didn't work out all nice and perfect, it gave me the motivation (and extra vinyl paid for by my boss) to create something I've been wanting to put in my house for a long time....

I love it! It's right above my closet in the entry hall. We have vaulted ceilings and that huge empty space was screaming for some attention!

And then last weekend, after a little vodka, I felt silly and made these...

I mean really, who doesn't need a mustache on their outlets?!?! I seriously walked around my house and put them on random outlets. They make me giggle every time I see one. I made some for my friend at work and my sister, who's totally obssessed with the stach!

For those of you who have a Silhouette, here's a tip for you....
The mustaches and the fancy scroll thingy besides my last name are both fonts. Go to dafont.com and look under the wingdings section. You can find TONS of cool shapes and things to use on your machine without having to pay for the graphics. Just download and install with your regular fonts and type away!

Now that I'm getting the hang of how this machine works, I might just start putting vinyl on everything! Haha

Hope you are having a great week!

{How Pinteresting} #11

Sorry this is a little late in the day. I didn't really feel all that great yesterday afternoon and didn't get around to posting this. But hey, better late than never, right?

We had some friends that had a baby last week {I'm jealous}. I saw this super cute embroidery hoop on Gwenny Penny

Isn't that darling? I think her words are stamped. I don't know how to do that, so I embroidered mine.....not that I'm a pro at that either, but it worked :)   My friends' nursery is green, pink and brown. Here's my version

Oh how I wish I had a baby.....someday

I've been so antsy all week to share this with you!!
I'm loving it and I know you will too!

Let's get right to it cuz I just can't wait!!

Here's the pinspiration photo from the space between.
There are really great instructions on how to make your own on her blog.

And here's mine!

I put it in our front entryway

I'm SO in love with it!! That's my baby girl...immortalized on canvas for all eternity :)

ps... I know she looks like a 3-legged dog. When I cut out the pattern I used, the only part of her other leg you could see was just the tip of her foot. And let me tell you, it made my "she" dog look like she had "he" parts sticking out, so I cut that foot off. I mean, it's a profile anyway, so you don't have to see both legs!

pps.... I know her toe nails are long. She got them trimmed a couple days ago.

Painting Knock Off

I don't want to steal other people's creativity, so I'm going to make sure I give proper credit for this one. I saw this painting on Pinterest and thought it was oh so perfect for my new orange living room and very darling. I had to recreate it on my own!

The Elephant's Trunk

And here's my version!

I pretty much love it! {swoon}

And in case you didn't notice it yesterday, it looks just great with my new orange bay window and ombre curtains

Fuzzy Coloring Page Thingy

I don't know what they are called. You know those coloring pages for kids that are black and fuzzy and you color in the lines?? My mom bought this giant floor book filled with those things for my kiddo. Most of the pages tear into small individual sheets that have birds and monkeys and kid things on them. BUT, there was one, that looks like a kaleidoscope, stained glass window type design. It's huge, the size of the book. My kiddo of course tosses it aside. Can I have it?? She says sure!

I used her markers when she was at school...sshhhh. I used colors that are in my dining room (navy, lime and white) and my living room (orange and white). It's going to hang on a wall in the living room right next to the opening to the dining room to kinda tie the two rooms together. I dig it. I'm going to frame it...black frame, white mat.

Too juvenile? Mr. Perfect doesn't mind. I like it.

Crayon Garden

Have you seen all the melted crayon art like this one on Pinterest and around bloggyland??
source
Ok I think they are AWESOME!!
However, I don't like the rainbow effect...maybe for a kids room or a playroom, but I need grown up art.
I also don't like the crayons glued on top...again, kinda juvenile.

Here's my spin on it and how I did it.

I used a bunch of random crayons that I stole, um, borrowed from the kid while she was at school {hey she prefers markers anyway} I taped them all to a velveeta box with painters tape.
I rested the edge of the cardboard on the top edge of the canvas so my crayons hung over the top just a wee bit
Then bust out the blow dryer and melt away! I'm not gonna lie...it's time consuming...lots of waiting...like watching grass grow...seriously
 I kinda made a mess
And splattered some crayon on the wall...and maybe my carpet. But it's cool...I'm painting that wall next month and the floors are getting replaced in the spring.
 So here's where I stopped
I flipped it upside-down and added some paper flowers I made.

And I have a grown up piece of crayon artwork!

I love!

Please protect your walls and floors better than I did if you attempt this :)

Much Love~
