I can't sew a circle

I saw these keychains over at Craftiness is not Optional  and I think they are super adorable!

Super cute right!?

Yeah, so I thought I would try some.

Not so much.

I dug through some scraps (not the prettiest ones in the world either)

I don't think I like them

What do you think?

I think if I had used prettier fabrics I might like them better

I also think I totally suck at sewing circles!

Maybe I should stick to sewing things with straight lines

Party Leftovers Part Deux

Remember these lovely streamer flowers I made??

Well here's what I did with them

Wanna make your own? Sure you do!

Here's what I did

I started with a 2.5" styrofoam ball. When I made the flowers, I had taped about a 1.5" to 2" piece of floral wire on the bottom. Just start sticking the flowers in the ball in whatever pattern you like! I also added a little dab of hot glue at the base of it, just in case.

For the ribbon, I poked the ends into the ball with a sewing pin. I added some hot glue under the ribbon also.

And that's it!

I hung it in the kiddo's room. Her room is an explosion of color, like a big girlie circus. This fits right in!

A Quick Rant

 I HATE ANTS!!!!!

Like, hate them with a passion

Sugar ants, big tree ants, flying ants, I despise them all!

Why do they constantly find a new way in my house to attack my dog food???

I spray, inside and out.

I fill up their entry holes with silicone.

I kill them.

I move the dog food.

I've cut down trees and bushes outside.

I pulled up all the plants and ground cover.

I tore up all the pavers outside.

I do everything.

Yet they are still out there somewhere.

They haunt me and I don't like it.

Not one bit.

Nothing sours my mood faster than seeing an ant.

Grr

Guess I should go deal with this...again.

Mirror, Mirror, on the wall...

Who's super hot?? Oh yeah that's me ;)

Ok scratch that...on to the point of this post...

The mirror in my bathroom is U.G.L.Y.

At first I was going to just paint the frame white, but the frame is so plain and boring to begin with that I thought it would still be an ugly mirror, just a white ugly mirror.

Replacing the mirror was not an option, so I had to come up with something else.

Last fall we Mr. Perfect cut down 6 trees in our yard

Yes I love nature and I totally care about our Earth, but they had to go, for reals!

So I had TONS of sticks and twigs to use to cover that hideous mirror. YAY!

So here's the mirror. Ugly right?

Progress! I'm telling you, it took like 2 hours and a truck load of hot glue to cover this whole thing!

And done! Ignore me standing in the mirror...ignore my closet behind me...don't judge

Better than the plain, boring, 1970's mirror right? Yup, thought so. LOVE!

Can I write on my door?

The answer is YES!

I decided to try my hand at using some chalkboard paint. 

When we bought our house a year and a half ago we had super dark, crappy doors (my house is a 1970-something house, yikes!). So I painted all those doors (and the trim) white....except one.

Don't ask me why I never painted this one door, I do not know why.

Maybe because I'm lazy?? 

YES! Probably.

Anyway, this one lovely door I neglected is a door in my family room that leads down to the laundry room and out to the garage. So I thought this would be the perfect door to use the chalkboard paint on so we could leave notes to each other, or reminders for the next day....like "don't leave your camera batteries plugged into the wall"...yeah I've done that oops!

So I took the door down, gave it a coat of paint and now it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb in my family room. Hoorah!

For the chalk cups, I used some hose clamps I got in a multi-pack for like 2 bucks at Walmart, then nailed them to the wall and slid a cheap $1 votive holder in the clamp. Voila!

And of course we had to draw some super crazy things all over the door. I can't say I didn't have a beer before we did this craziness *wink*
